Discover the Grand Pic Saint-Loup region

Saint-Mathieu-de-Tréviers is the result of the union of two villages, Saint-Mathieu on the heights near the Château de Montferrand, and Tréviers in the plain. Our village, which has attracted many small businesses, has become a small town in the heart of the renowned vineyards of the Pic Saint-Loup, in a natural environment close to the Cevennes, which invites you to enjoy beautiful hiking, especially on the GRP® Tours en Grand Pic Saint-Loup elected "GR® preferred by the French in 2021".

The Grand Pic Saint-Loup, labeled "Territoire engagé pour la Nature" (Territory committed to nature), brings together 36 municipalities united by the desire to preserve an exceptional natural territory, a mosaic of landscapes dotted with high quality vineyards, where hills, garrigues, valleys and gorges carved by numerous rivers mingle.

Escape on the paths, enjoy at your own pace this famous and preserved environment, classified Natura 2000, suitable for hiking or cycling.

Don't miss climbing the summit of the Pic Saint-Loup, a famous marker of the Hérault landscape, culminating at 658 m of altitude, whose characteristic silhouette served as a landmark for ships sailing to the Mediterranean coast.

Throughout the territory of the Grand Pic Saint-Loup, many activities are available to you. Don't hesitate to ask us, we will be happy to give you the right plans and advice.

Pic Saint-Loup

The Pic Saint-Loup vineyard

Our apartment Residence Elisa welcomes visitors who are often attracted by the fame of the Pic Saint-Loup vineyard. This terroir is remarkable for its geographical location and exposure, which offers dry and cool winds and varied and draining soils. The red wine produced here is renowned for its aromas of blackcurrant and spices, and for its complexity resulting from the garrigue.
The Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) Pic Saint-Loup is produced by 72 estates in 17 communes. There are many places to taste it (in moderation) and guides also organize wine tours.

Walks and Hikes

Our favorite walk is the climb to the Château de Montferrand, from the top of which an exceptional panorama will allow you to contemplate the Pic Saint-Loup and the cliffs of the Hortus .

And conversely, climbing up to the ruins of the Viviourès castle located on the ledge of the Hortus mountain at 300 meters of altitude, will offer you an unobstructed view of the Pic Saint-Loup and the Castle of Montferrand.

The tour of the Pic Saint-Loup by bike is also a beautiful route. Numerous other cycling circuits are amply detailed on various websites.

Ruelle moyenâgeuse

The medieval villages

With their ramparts, their churches of the Middle Ages, and even their prehistoric sites, many of the surrounding villages are worth a visit: Saint-Jean-de-Cuculles, Saint-Martin-de-Londres, Les Matelles, Valflaunès, Ferrières-les-Verreries, Viols-Le-Fort... The site of Saint-Jean-de-Buèges with its castle of Baulx at the foot of the Roc de Trascastel is even classified as world heritage by Unesco.

The local markets will make you appreciate the culinary specialities of the region.

During the summer, each village organizes its own festivities.
